Just wondering if post-tribulationists typically believe in the pre-adamic earth doctrine?

Is this a feature of progressive dispensationalism?

Brian,

We had a rather long discussion on this topic recently at PFRS. Here's the link...

If this is not what you are asking about, let me know and I'll be glad to answer.

Brian, I'm not sure what exactly you mean by pre-Adamic earth doctrine.

I can tell you that I am a young earth creationist. I believe there was an earth prior to Adam. For about five and a half days. smile.gif

Thanks Roger, I'll take a look.

Christ, that was too funny... I agree with you by the way.

I was curious what people here thought, because I can tell there is alot of faithful people, who have alot of knowledge, not that I agree at all times with all here, but I can learn alot here.

Belief in a Pre-Ademic race is a big part of pre-trib rapture beliefs. It goes with the Gap theory. It is the very first reason I started to doubt the pre-trib rapture. A fellow at my (old) church would teach Revelations and use a chart made up by a fellow named John G. Hall that claimed to be a timeline of history. Mr. Hall claimed to have had a vision and and Angel showed him
http://johnghallmini...s.com/books.htm. It shows a Pre-Ademic race existing with dinosaurs. He claimed that Lucifer ruled this world and that it was destroyed by a flood.

I knew this was wrong and unbiblical, which made me very suspect of the rest. It took another 5 years before I would really come to understand how wrong he was.

Hi Jon,

I'm not saying that you are wrong about John G. Hall, but I have not been able to find any information to confirm your statement that he teaches there was a pre-Adamic race ruled by Lucifer. I went to the url you provided, but the chart is unreadable (obviously because they want you to buy it, not print it). I also did an internet search and came up empty. His web site contains virtually NO information about his teaching. It's just a sales brochure (and not a very good one imo). I have never heart about this man and what you said about him may be true. Can you provide any specific quotes where he says this stuff and cite where the quotes come from?

In any case, it is definitely NOT correct to say that "belief in a pre-Adamic race ruled by Lucifer is a big part of pre-trib rapture beliefs." I was a pretribber for a long long time and studied at two pre-trib, dispensational schools and I NEVER heard anything like this. I did hear about a gap theory between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, but NOT a gap theory that included a pre-Adamic race of men. Any such theory would be in conflict with Romans 5 and would be heresy in my opinion (and also in the opinion of my former dispensational teachers).

I will see if I can get a copy of the drawing. It is quite clear on it. If I overstated the importance of the gap theory I am sorry. I was raised on that garbage and I heard it alot. I guess I assumed that people like John Ankerberg and Jim Dobson, who believe in Theistic evolution, would be included in that as well.
